Is there a way to improve throttle response?

Yes, there is a slight delay, but you're comparing apples to oranges with DBC. I daydream about 97.2 GT3's...

I feel the same. I've never driven a DBW system that has the same response as cable throttle.

not sure how, I drive sport mode every day, no jerkiness except once in a while.

First, try cleaning your ICV. It controls the throttle bodies up to (I think 2400rpm) where the DBW takes over.

Second, use the MartynT tool to remap your throttle pedal to be more 1:1.

This sounds like the ticket. Quick research yielded a thread on this tool and the following comment:

”I have been driving with a nearly linear throttle for a few weeks now. I certainly like the improvements that have come from bringing up the initial throttle response dip that exists in the stock comfort mode[.]”

That’s what I was trying to say above, albeit inartfully. The initial dip into the throttle (at idle with clutch out) feels like it has a dead zone. Almost like the first 5-10% don’t matter/register.

Hassan (HTE) tuned my car and did a wonderful job. We had to connect a second time as the intial tune resulted in a car that wanted to surge ahead from a stop at random. Is it typical for tuners to adjust throttle settings?

Thank you, sir. And thanks to all that have posted. I will figure out how to make these tweaks and report back.

If anyone has this tool + cable and is familiar with this tweak in LA, I’ll come to you. Or you can come to me for seat time in the GTR, GT3, or longhood, you choose.

I find nothing slow about the DBW in the E46 M3. Fast as fook IMO. OP might need to drive another M3 to compare.

              DBC and OBD1, pass

Good thread on throttle mapping and various things people have tried.

Our new car came with a tune on it so did our old car. Throttle map seems to be something that each tuner has his/her on preference for. Curious what throttle maps everyone is using for track? Below I am posting two throttle maps, one from our current car and one from our old car. Curious what people's thoughts are.
