Set up; Euro headers/cats, OEM Sec 2, Dixis.
Very confused - are Dixis's bespoke or being made out of someone's basement? I can't find a site or any info for them. Send info. Thanks

They were made from 06-09 in Japan.

I'm working on remaking them using my own Dixis as the jig.

      Stay tuned.

My euro/catted fabspeed/resonated x and El Diablo was better sounding but it droned. Then I added a Karb and moved to SS sport. Perfection

online videos don't always accurate sound, but I'm surprised how bad the sunbeam from the slideways video sounds. I'd seen other sunbeam videos that sound great from the outside, but that was always in a racetrack setting at high rpm.

          - Valvetronic section 3

All I hear is rasp. Rasp at its finest. I hate rasp! If I ever sell my E46 it’ll be because of my hate of the rasp. 😂

I just ordered Supersprint Resonated sec 2 x-pipe to see how that goes. I saw in an older thread someone saying that a resonated section 2 will eliminate or atleast significantly reduce rasp.🤞🏽
I have the resonated sec 2 x pipe, with SS Sport, and the old CPI rasp terminator on stock headers. no rasp. I haven't heard the car from the outside, but I absolutely hated the rasp and I almost sold the car because of it.

I'm tempted to try the dual 2.5'' resonated supersprint sec2, but I'm so content with the way the car sounds I don't even care if it's costing me 5hp.

I'm also convinced that it's the twin piping of the E46 that makes the S54 sound shitty in stock form. EVERY SINGLE S54 SWAP VIDEO SOUNDS GREAT. why is that? Hell, even the bimmerworld "race" exhaust sounds great compared to stock, and I think it may be because it's a single pipe. The supersprint X pipe effectively does the same thing, if only for a shorter run.

I'd love to try making a single 3.5'' exhaust stuffed with resonators into a street muffler and quad tips. I think that'd be the best sounding and lightest design at least.

How loud would it be over the SS Sport bro?

Update: I sourced a sunbeam section 1 to pair with the section 3 and it’s enormously better. 95% less drone, a very tolerable sound on the low end & the high end is even higher pitched. Will post a video update soon.

Yes, the section 1 is the biggest game changer IMO. The secret sauce is pairing the Sunbeam sec 1 with the OEM sec 2, and any sec 3 will sound good.

Just installed the sunbeam section 1 to pair with their section 3. Here you can compare the differences between exhaust setups w/cats & without. As well as the stock setup, SCZA muffler only, CSL Headers + Euro Catted section + SCZA Muffler. Hope this provides some insight for anyone interested in this exhaust setup.

Pretty gnarly sound, kinda cool, I can see some people liking such a "tuner" sound, but it's kinda funny too. For me, nothing beats long tubes (tubulare, v1s, v2s) on a stock system.

The sound & volume definitely isn’t for everyone. I’m thinking of modifying the section 2 either with the (hopefully) future sunbeam section 2 or welding Vibrant Ultra Quiet resonators. Hopefully should extract the last bit of drone at low end.

Man why do this in MDR lol

Go east of the 405 for the full 350Z VQ effect.

CSL Headers and a Dinan sounds great if you haven't tried it yet.

                            Solarbeam exhaust is too effective.

It’s my neighborhood & I wanted to record my first impression with the exhaust setup. Will record more as well as get decibel readings when I have time.
