This has nothing to do with the depth of the holes. The marking causes no harm.Originally posted by BL92 View PostDepth is an issue actually, mine is currenly bottoming out and rubbing against the disk
You don't want less depth as this might cause the driving tabs bottom out in the holes and causes major problem. Deeper is better.

Waste of time unfortunately, Machinist said 3 month wait and doesn't have a 9.8 drill bit lol
I'm just slapping it back together for now and hope this oil leak clears up
Was looking at exchange with Beisan until they raised their price $500 USD!
Best i keep mine anyway, since they are non existent here and go VAC Hub with new a oem unit from this guyLast edited by BL92; 01-29-2026, 10:46 PM.

Why buy a new vanos unit?
Sounds like you have disc options as well, you can also buy a VAC hub and eliminate the need to do anything at all with your disc.2004 Silbergrau Metallic 6MT

Any half decent engineering firm perform this operation. There must be loads on Oz that can do it. I have had them done over here in the UK without much trouble.Originally posted by BL92 View PostWaste of time unfortunately, Machinist said 3 month wait and doesn't have a 9.8 drill bit lol

2 holes XX diameter, same depth as the other two holes, same distance from center.Originally posted by ac427 View Post

Is the disc balanced? Meaning the two new holes don't need to be exactly 90 degrees from the others.

I've never seen any marks on them to show they have been balanced as an OEM part and i have two spare vanos assemblies.
