Wow! This is the closest to what I've been trying to achieve

I wonder how close to it I can get with: Euro headers, euro sec 1, SS Resonated sec 2 (y-pipe) and swapping from Street to Sport? My current setup did what I needed it to do which was kill the rasp. However, at low rpm driving I hear close to nothing....maybe 1 db above stock. I have the CSL airbox but that's only fun in 3rd gear above 3500rpm.

You should be able to get close considering I don't have cats. I am looking for an affordable set of euro cats to modify and install with the stepped headers. Getting old lol and don't want the smell.

Thanks. I think that might have to be the move since Eisenmann lost their minds and increased their race by 35% to $2800. I can get a new SS sport for just shy of $2k.

Smell is now getting to me and with the kid now i dont want that any more. After the SS Stepped headers its the catless section 1 thats why. I want to replace it with the Euro Cats modified to fit the SS V1s

I'd like to add fresh (better) cats and resonators and see if I can make it sound any better.

Honestly the best route is to get the airbox and keep the exhaust relatively bottled up, as long as you're making the power that you're looking for.
Once you open up the exhaust with headers and no resonators/cats the S54 has a distinctive sound. I can recognize an S54 with headers and the BW race instantly which I think sounds terrible.

I agree...need to keep the exhaust quiet and get more of the glorious machine gun noises from the intake.

That is what I'm going to do. Euro headers, euro section 1, stock section 2, and stock muffler. See how it goes. Let the airbox do the talking.

Ah. Makes sense. Welp we'll see what happens! I'll be running catless for a bit at least. Just need to find a good section 3, not too loud so my airbox can be heard too.

You'll be fine. I'm also changing out the trunk vent breathers on the M3 to see if that lessens the smell for now.
