    LuK clutch with Sachs release bearing

    What is the advantage of using a Sachs release bearing with a LuK clutch?

    My understanding is that you actually want to separately get the OE BMW release bearing regardless of which clutch kit you go with. Same with pilot bearing.

              It is all the same shit.

              You want to pull the bearing race off, clean it, and then apply a lot of quality grease to help it last a little longer. If you compare, the bearing you pulled apart, cleaned, and greased will be MUCH quieter than a new stock bearing.

              I wish someone made a higher quality bearing.

                I wonder if a proper SKF bearing could be sourced?

                I'm not sure why the LuK item is see as inferior to the OE Sachs item, especially since the OE clutch is supposed to made by LuK?

                  I'm sure there is something better...I'm sure it is a standard size.

                  I don't think there is a difference between Luk and Sachs. They all use an undersized roller bearing.

                        I remember a couple of years ago there was a thread about this and someone did a direct comparison of all the parts and it was found that although it seems like they should all be the same, the non-OE branded release bearings were very loose and seemed of a different quality. Whether or not that makes them more prone to failure, I don't know.

                          I just installed LUK clutch kit, LUK DMF, and LUK throwout bearing. No issues. LUK tob tilts where Sachs one doesn't, this seems to give it a better contact point. There are posts by kaiv who's done tons of these and says no issues.

                            I wonder if there was a difference between OE purchased through BMW and aftermarket purchased Sachs bearings.

                              So if the OEM clutch is LuK and the OEM release bearing is Sachs. Are saying that BMW mix manufacturers from factory?
