Hi all,
I have an 04 convertible. I purchased it with 137k miles. I'm currently in the process of replacing the rod bearings. To my surprise the rod bolts are the old style m11,v which leads me to the conclusion the engine is from an earlier year m3. Grok seems to think bmw may have installed an earlier production engine into later cars from their stock. Is grok full of it?
So, my vin ends in PK07902, the engine serial number is 60362481 with 32 6 S4 below it.
How can I find out if this engine indeed came with my car from the factory?
I do know the car has just over 200k on it. Of course, if the engine was replaced my a former owner, there no telling how many miles are on the engine.
I have taken the bearings out of cylinder 5 and the two halves look great with very little wear!
Thanks
Klaus
