I have a Stoptech ST40/355mm BBK, possible to get a CCB replacement? Assuming it needs to be the friction disc and the hat.

Absolutely. I assume you would need pads as well but I can supply everything needed. I mentioned it on Rennlist but BBKs can sometimes be tricky because the databases I use to get OEM data from won't have them. That said, if you have any of the schematics for the BBK (2d rotor measurements), or are able to measure a few things, I am happy to make it happen.

Let me know if you want to go into a bit more detail. Might be easiest to email me ([email protected]).

      Almost anything is doable though.

Yes, also need pads. I have an old friction ring that you could have to do the measurements. Would that work?
i know Stoptech had drawings on their website...I'll see if I can find them somewhere else. Maybe Zeckhausen.

Welcome! Can you comment on cold bite/friction and how it differs from warm/hot (ie: second lap)? Also, what sorts of pad limitations get imposed? Thinking about availability of pads long term as folks use Porsche 996 calipers and stock BMW calipers with the same spec rotors.

I use SiC for other high temp applications, it’s an incredible material for several reasons but it’s brittle. Would we expect to see surface cracking on these due to the SiC-heavy surface?

We’ve known for a long time that StopTech was developing a carbon ceramic rotor option for their big brake kits. Last month, the 700hp Callaway C16 Speedster was introduced at Pebble Beach and it featured the new StopTech ceramic brakes. Our turn to try these came just two weeks later, when we received a set for evaluation on a BMW E46 M3. This is a very big change in technology. Rather than using chopped carbon fibers, it’s made from a continuous fiber. This makes the StopTech rotors stronger than ceramic offerings from companies like Porsche, and less prone to oxidation - meaning they are more track friendly. We received four 355x32mm carbon ceramic rotors, mounted on billet aluminum hats and special brake pads in street and race compounds that are compatible with the exotic rotors.

First impressions out of the box? These are very strange looking rotors. They weigh only 9.6 pounds (including hats and hardware) and they don’t feel real when you hold them in your hands. They feel more like those plastic rapid prototypes that you have made on a computer controlled milling machine to see what a 3D version of your product is going to look like when it’s done. But these are the real thing and they are supposed to stop the car! Of course, the first thing we did was weigh them.

That's awesome! Sad that Stoptech went into the crapper. Hopefully it gets reincarnated but not holding my breath.

JohnBSPK For a CSL rotor kit, is there any concern on developing corresponding pads for the factory sliding calipers? I might be the only one in the world asking, but curious.

You’re not, a CSL/ZCP CC set up would be amazing with the stock calipers.

Want to apologize for the delayed replies to many of the questions that have come up. I have been traveling overseas with limited connectivity the past few days. My connectivity should stabilize this evening through and will go through the questions in more detail shortly. Thanks for your patience!

At a high level, I am happy to make setups to support the e46 community. As I mentioned to SQ13, I am a big e46 fan and ironically, I recognize your car Sharocks . I've seen you at Lars.

That one was the Taycan wagon - did a build to order spec right when they came out to get those 420mm boat anchors. They hauled down that heavy beast without issue or brake dust. Hard to say I noticed the unsprung weight difference vs steels in that case though.
