    Best/correct way to remove cams?

Need to remove my cams. I saw a method online where you rotate the crank counter clockwise approx 30 degrees and then turn the cams so that only cyl 2 and 5 are engaged. Then remove all nuts except for those 2 cylinders. Then finally remove those cylinder nuts slowly as not to bend the cam. Is this the recommenced method?

    thanks.

Follow the TIS procedure for replacing the cams. This is the correct way to remove/install cams in regards to the actual cams as well as the vanos.

Yup, I saw the same TIS procedure about the 30 degrees counterclockwise from TDC in the headgasket DIY - https://forums.m3cutters.co.uk/threa...e46-m3.205525/

So really what I’m getting from all of these is that it’s not really a big deal where you remove them. Just as long as you remove the nuts where the bearing is pushing the valve last and slowly.

I will say though. The guide on m3support seems safer because only 1 cam lobe is under pressure. I feel like if two lobes were under pressure and 1 released before the other (which naturally will happen) some thing could bend.
