No experience with the bellhousing conversion with AMS but I recently purchased the wiring harness jumper from them. Showed up quickly and they responded promptly to a question I had on it.

I had George Hill Hill Performance do the machining of my bellhousing. Very satisfied with that experience, wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

I’m also in the midst of researching where to have my bellhousing machined.

So far I’ve found the following
        - AMS
        - VAC
        - Lang
        - MSportsParts

Sounds like GeorgeHill Performance is another one.

Hard to say which option is best but I’ve gathered you want to find an experienced shop to do the machining and want to avoid hand drilling. If it’s not done right the bell housing is trash.

There is also the option to do the detent shifter and skip the bellhousing machining, but your limited to the tall shifter assemblies.

I think I can speak on AMS. I've had my big 3 done there and bought the conversion kit from them. Derek is a great guy who has always responded to me quickly and is a great resource for anything E46. He has a lot of regulars (including me), but is a one-man show, so he can be a little caught up sometimes. However, when he is able to, he'll always help out. He's very timely in responses and overnight shipped me a connector when the wrong one was packaged in the manual conversion kit. Overall, I'd trust AMS totally, and if you message him on their website, you are sure to get a timely response/total transparency, and communication during the process.

Thanks guys. I'm looking for reviews for the machining service in particular.

Sorry, yeah. My bellhousing I got from him fit perfect, nothing wrong at all. I also got my vanos disks machined at his in a very timely manner and they fit perfect. I think you can kind of piece together an idea of his machining service with that info.

I had my bellhousing done with AMS, no issues. Been 3k miles since conversion. I did have some communication issues with him but all is well.
