Bolt in Rollbar Reviews/Experiences

I would like to probably get a rollbar in my car at some point. I have been looking for used ones locally, but nothing has come up so starting to look for new options. I think at the pace I am going, I really should not be in a 3pt belt with broken airbag system. I have a hans my dad gave me but can't run it without harnesses and do not want to just have a harness bar.

Curious on anyone's thought on any bolt in roll bar they have bought as far as fitment, design etc. Positive or negative.

Looking to keep full interior but understand I will have to do some trimming/cutting.

I have two of the ones Bimmerworld sells. (Kirk Racing)

They are awkward to install and the fitment on the rear wheel well isn’t perfect, but with a proper sequencing tightening it down, it ends up OK.

Depending on how that goes, you might need drill another hole on the brace/leg joint. Take your time and it will come out better.

If safety is a big concern, you may want to investigate having a fab shop build you a weld in bar. It may not be much more expensive and you can have a little more control over specs and layout. Just my 2c.

Unless you weld in boxed reinforcements to the main hoop area, all offerings are not safe in the event of a roll over. The thin sheet metal floor that all bars bolt into will just cave in.

There just aren’t great mounting points on the E46 chassis, unlike 911 or even e92.

I'm in the same boat. I bought a harness bar to modify for my car, but I'm just not feeling it. Considering a roll bar as a stop gap before a full cage down the road.

You can at least run a Schroth Quick Fit Pro with your setup and use your Hans.

I have the 4-point design often used by companies like Kirk or Autopower. One thing is that with this design, it kinda blocks your rear view mirror view. I can still see well enough, but just something to keep in mind.

I've had Ben's in my car for about 2 yrs now. As far a bolt in designs go, I don' think you'll find a better one.
