The dot im talking about is for the oil! When the gear is pushed all the way in the oil dot is ccw of the cam when installing the hub I know it’s supposed be turned all the way right when I install the hub is all the way right and the oil dot lines up with the cam and when the gear is pushed in the hub turns counter clockwise of the cam!

Do you know how to do the vanos timing?

It's a helical gear, so the hub should turn CC when the gear is pushed into the hub.

That dot (hole) on top of the hub is for a special tool that is used to help manually move the intake or exhaust hubs. No one uses the that tool and that dot (hole) is not that important.

Depending on how you clocked the cam sprocket behind the hub, that dot (hole) hole can be in different spots. BMW states to align the intake and exhaust sprocket elongated holes "centrally," so that hole is accessible with the special tools (again, no one uses that special tool).
