Hi NAM3, I have decided to bite the bullet and buy the bomiz equal length section 1 . I bought the catted version that has 200 cell high flow cats. Let me first say, what an amazing piece when it comes to noise. The car sounds like a baby v10 when you get on it. But I do have to NOTE. the cats are basically useless until you warm them up. I driven the car in both 50 degree heat and in 70 degree temperature. In the cold weather you will smell the exhaust fume windows down idling on a light. No fumes smell windows up. On the other hand, In 70 degree weather. You hardly smell fumes windows down or up
. Now let’s discuss fitment, on bomiz website it shows that both banks on the section 1 are connected via a bridge/bracket to eliminate vibration. When I received the exhaust. I have noticed that both banks are not welded to each other. Which made sense later when I installed it on. Now let’s jump to installation. So when installing, the bank 2 of the bomiz will give you hard time because it will hit the transmission casing if installed at wrong angle. Just take your time and have patience and it will work but NOTE it’s a tight fitment and you will need to make sure that exhaust shield isn’t touching the exhaust or you will get a nasty rattle on idle. Ask me how I know
. Now to the noise. The car simply sounds wicked and addictive. Better than I expected. Catted version also did a good job with eliminating some of the rasp but not completely. You will need a resonated section 2 x pipe to get ride of rasp completely. Anyway, would I buy this piece again. Short answer is Yes I would. Yes it was painful to install but it’s worth it.
ADVICE: have a small bridge bracket welded on between both banks after installing and test driving the car. Do this to eliminate future exhaust vibration and stress on welds.
My exhaust setup:
- Megan headers
- Bomiz equal section 1 catted version
- Status Gruppe resonated X pipe
- Billy Boat section 3
here is some pictures and a sound clip.
