    Turner exhaust hub

Had not seen this, not sure how new it is, but had not seen it mentioned here before so what the hell, it's an interesting design I guess.

I see how this would appeal to people that don't want to mess with timing.

With this product you are literally cutting the tabs off the original disc and sliding this over the top just for the advantage of not having to time the engine?

Seems a bit ridiculous to me.

Will happily retime the engine, thank you very much

The amount of tape and plastic covering waste that can accidentally be left or dropped in the engine is crazy, not to mention getting some metal debris in spots where it is not perfectly covered.

Exactly my thoughts, all the things that could go wrong vastly outweigh simply timing the engine.

I understand being apprehensive about it, the M3 was the first time I had timed an engine but with the amount of quality information out there, not such a big deal.

Wow, ive definitely never seen that. Must be new! I feel like if one can go through all that they can certainly manage to learn how to time an engine lol.

Part of me thinks this is brilliant...then another part of me thinks this is a disaster waiting to happen.

It's a great idea to reuse the broken tab old hub with this simple adaptor. I'm a bit surprised that it's listed for $250 though, instead of something around $100.

I would not do the cutting with the old hub mounted on the engine for fear of metal debris.

I hope the adapter has a tight tolerance for its bottom boss ID which is needed to keep the new tabs concentric with the rotating pump disk.

When you have the Beisan hub for $400 I don't know who in their right mind would buy this.

But you don't have to time the engine...lol

I just cringe saying "my ECS Tuning developed version of rubber overshoes for the VANOS exhaust hub is working great!" I'm all about shade tree mechanics but that is another level.

The stupid thing is timing the engine isn't THAT hard. Follow the directions.

I also think about if this design would hold up long term in regards to structural integrity.

I am definitely no expert, and maybe they did do some virtual stress tests, but they likely don't know exactly what the forces excerted on which areas are to begin with.

This part is so much "thinner" than the standard part, combine that with the possibility it may not have great fitment, maybe it could it could be susceptible to breakage?

Although I supose this part is only really taking on the stresses of driving the pump, the rest is still the OEM part.

                        Just throwing that out there.

Most aftermarket parts are NEVER tested beyond does it fit. Vendors...prove me wrong.

An example is aero parts. CFD is not testing. The reason why I spent the money on an AJ Hartman wing because he has tested the wing in a wind tunnel and real world.

but the stupid cam bolts fall out anyways, and that stupid guide falls apart at 100k miles. So the engine has to be untimed anyways, to repair that. I get if this is being used to repair a hub with a broken tab I guess? That's the only place I can see this being used. However you can get used, they have a repop one or even one with enlarged tabs.

Seems crazy to ignore the other vanos failure modes when you're in there.
