YES, This fits the convertible too! (however it does require cutting and removal of certain items.   This light weight utility brace might be just what you want for your BMW e46/ e46m3, if the comp-1 isn’t to your taste or if weight is a concern.. along with desire for a little extra space & simplicity. This brace i

This bar also fits the verts

A concern I would have with an X-brace like that is its not connecting the rear subframe mounts directly to the chassis rails (like a Vince or CMP bar) but to the rear struts - so you could well be transferring the RACP forces to a different potential area of fatigue failure

The other obvious concern is losing a significant amount of boot space (as well as access to the ski-pass in the 'vert)

Also, I'm not too sure you would get any noticeable advantage from a rear strut brace in a 'vert given the reinforcement that the rear fixed seat provides (not enough to warrant sacrificing boot space for IMHO)

I recommend a Stealth Bar style solution. It noticeably stiffens up the rear, transfers the RACP forces directly to the chasis rails, and is invisible (no downsides). Coupled with a decent front strut brace it really stiffens up a 'vert nicely

Agreed that a stealth bar that connects directly to the rail is the better option, but installing an x brace is significantly simpler than cutting open the floor to do the vincebar, etc.

Also doesn't cut into the ski pass through too much since the x itself is so low:

I see you have a coupe, not a 'vert. Given that a coupe does not have the rear seat bulkhead that a 'vert has (and that this is a 'vert thread), you may be inadvertently misleading people into believing this brace is an RACP 'subframe cracking' solution when it may never have been designed as such (perhaps only to strengthen a coupe?)

Here's the advice I received on the x brace from an engineer expert in E46 subframe failures:

The brace to be fair doesn’t brace the rear subframe mounts.
The brace would lose a substantial amount of rigidity at the strut towers being only a single 2.5mm thick plate with no vertical cross section which would allow plenty of up/down movement as it’s cantilevered to the tower.
The bracing is also lacking at least one additional member to actually be ‘triangulated’. The centre section is no more rigid than a single tube and thus would also be losing rigidity there.

Most if not all of the DMG bars fit the rear in a vert.
