Bluebus Firmware to Show Coolant Temp and Voltage on CD53 Radio

    Howdy,

I worked with Ted to get this created for my use case. Sharing in case anyone else deems it useful.

On CD53 radio, I saw in the metadata it showed coolant temp and vehicle speed. I much preferred having vehicle voltage instead. I reviewed the code and saw vehicle voltage was an available datapoint in the iBus.

I made some code changes, and Ted reviewed them and fixed what I missed. He compiled this for me and I flashed my unit via the web browser tool he has and Voila!

So now I have seamless Bluetooth and just a bit more visibility on the vitals all with the stock radio. So happy with this product and his support!

Nice. Am also very happy with my BlueBus and with how nicely Ted has written the FW.

Just FYI, you can fork the BlueBus repo and keep it updated with your changes. Makes it easier for others to see what parts of the source code you changed and gives you version control in case you ever want to revert some local change you made.

Here's my own fork for reference: https://github.com/heinzboehmer/BlueBusMirrorMemory

I swapped my Grom from my M5 to a Bluebus and put the Grom into into my M3 because I have a CD53 radio.

Now you hit me with this.

Um - what exactly do we do if we want voltage? Update the firmware? Nice job!

Download and unzip the file in Sam's post. Then update the software with the file using this website: https://www.bluebus.dev/firmware

I would recommend checking with Bluebus (Ted) and verify no hardware differences or something in some older units. I would think the firmware is cross compatible with most units however, I think it wouldn’t hurt to check with him first before flashing.
