So got the kayser fuel filter from ecs. The crush washers it came with don't fit. Tried to reuse the stock sized one and is leaking like mad. Can't get through to ecs to ask about it. What's the deal Auth this filter. Teflon tape work? Gonna have to slap the old one on since I need the garage back.

I had to reuse my original crush washers. It stopped the leaking and should be fine. I would recommend changing them to the proper ones next time though.Originally posted by Tones View PostSo got the kayser fuel filter from ecs. The crush washers it came with don't fit. Yeah I tried that. Mine isn't sealing with the orginal as it doesn't have any where to seat properly.Originally posted by Johnvu View Post

Edit. Lol. Now the crush washer won't seal with the old stock filter.Last edited by Tones; 06-24-2020, 05:06 PM.

Crush washers are a one time use thing. You might get lucky and get a decent seal from a used one, but it's not something you should expect. Your best bet is probably to go to your nearest dealer and buy some (I'd recommend calling first to make sure they have them in stock). It won't cost more than a dollar or so.2002 Topasblau M3 - Coupe - 6MT - Karbonius CSL Airbox - MSS54HP Conversion - SSV1 - HJS - Mullet Tune - MK60 Swap - ZCP Rack - Nogaros - AutoSolutions - 996 Brembos - Slon - CMP - VinceBar - Koni - Eibach - BlueBus - Journal

Iirc, you don't use crush washers with one of them OES Keyser or oem mahler, just can't remember which one. They're also slightly different at the threaded end. I think the o-rings for the drain plug and the oil line (and vanos banjo) on the exhaust side of the head if you have any of those laying around.DD: /// 2011.5 Jerez/bamboo E90 M3 · DCT · Slicktop · Instagram

You can steal the one from an oil filter kit, I did that when I encountered the same situation and was in a pinch'06 BMW M3 6MT Coupe - TiAg/Imola

You know that is supposed to be true. I order all needed crush washers 90% of the time. But sometimes I miss one or two. I have never had those leak. not once...Originally posted by heinzboehmer View PostCrush washers are a one time use thing. Ended up filing a new washer inner diameter larger till it screwed onto the new kayser filter. Tightened it down with a skinny wrench and it's no longer leaking. That was a fun 3-4 hours.
Car is actually a bit faster that stock filter was pouring out brown. Wonder how dirty the injectors are.

I can't seem to find consistency in terms of who is really the OEM was for the fuel filters. I've seen both Mahle and Kayser in several different places - anyone know with certainty?Originally posted by Tbonem3 View PostIirc, you don't use crush washers with one of them OES Keyser or oem mahler, just can't remember which one. Also to follow up on the point above, the Mahle and Genuine BMW pictures on FCP's site shows the washer.

On my previous E46, when I went to change the fuel filter, the original one was still on there, as in, it was stamped 2002, and it was a Kayser.Originally posted by mtpktz View Post

Ya it's kayser and it doesn't use a copper crush washer, but you do use the copper crush washer with OEM Mahle filter.DD: /// 2011.5 Jerez/bamboo E90 M3 · DCT · Slicktop · Instagram

Hope that helps.Thank you both. I'll spend the extra $20 and grab the Genuine BMW since a non-Genuine Kayser isn't available from FCP.Originally posted by Tbonem3 View PostYa it's kayser and it doesn't use a copper crush washer, but you do use the copper crush washer with OEM Mahle filter.
