Quickjack Owners: Which Oil Did you Use?

What oil did you use for your quickjack? Any benefit to using iso32 hydraulic oil versus ATF for the quickjack?

Regular old atf that matched spec they called for. Several years now and no issues.

One thing we noticed in a shop I worked at, lifts were needing full rebuilds on seals because ATF was so harsh compared to hydraulic fluid. There were two that were rebuilt within a few months of each other and one company used proper hydraulic fluid and the original company used ATF. Within a year the ATF one was seeping along with every other lift that had ATF in it. You can smell the difference when lowering the cars which one had what.

I asked one of the lift techs about it one day when he was adjusting a lift. He liked making money, but he also seemed to care more about doing the job right. I appreciate people like that. And for what it's worth ATF is just hydraulic fluid with a large amount of detergents basically. Not all systems can just be changed over either but you could call and ask the manufacturer about what you could use that has similar properties as the ATF they recommend.

thanks everyone! Got some ATF. Just waiting on the third box to arrive. The small box came FedEx then some random UHaul delivered one of the larger boxes. Hopefully Monday the last box arrives.

Anyone ever notice that the Quickjack manual states:

Do not work under an elevated Vehicle unless properly rated Vehicle Jack Stands are used and placed under the factory-approved Lifting Points.
How are you supposed to use jack stands with the QJ? On the front and rear subframe?

It has bars that lock when you relieve pressure a little. You're supposed to make sure the bars are locked before working under the car. But that's interesting, I never read the manual.

Make sure you relieve “all” of the pressure once it’s locked into position, especially before removing the hoses.

Yeah i wonder if bendpak puts the same statement in their 2 post lift manuals just to cover their butt.

Hopefully you guys never have an issue with your quickjack. Their support is terrible.

I must retract this statement. Filled out their feedback form with details from my experience and within 10 minutes one of their VPs and inventor of the QJ called me and talked to me for about 20 minutes about the product and answered every question I had.

I ended up using CHF-11S lol. Logic being that it might work better in the winter.

Ended up buying a gallon of the Valvoline that they pictured in their videos. Ended up leaking a little in shipping so got it for free
