Chiming in on this as I'm looking to get into the SS GB for the 63.5mm system--great thread. From what I read it seems that the 63.5mm section 2 is only really necessary if you are running high HP and other mods like cams, CSL intake, etc.?
My car is totally stock and I'm not chasing high HP, I just need to replace my stock manifolds (bad cats) and pass emissions. For an otherwise stock setup, if I run the 63.5mm manifolds (044001) and 63.5mm catted section 1 (044002), and stock section 2 and rear muffler, is that going to work just fine? Of course, I'd like the full system but cost is a factor. Seems the cats will bolt right up to the Sec2.
Any thoughts are welcome!

The stock sect 2 is a great piece, and it will never be a problem running one, even on a FBO car. Remember, the SS 2.5" is exactly the same as the stock piece, just 3.5mm or 1/8" large diameter.DD: /// 2011.5 Jerez/bamboo E90 M3 · DCT · Slicktop · Instagram

No. I have most bolt on mods, no cams, and I felt a little more grunt. I think Hassan demonstrated an 8whp delta but that was with 280 cams iirc.
The aftermarket sect 2s that lose midrange power are the Y pipe aka "Xpipe" style with no crossover.DD: /// 2011.5 Jerez/bamboo E90 M3 · DCT · Slicktop · Instagram
