ECS' website says this is for cars with 400+ horsepower. Will I be able to get any benefit out of this with CPI stepped headers, oem catted sec 1 euro? Or should I go with the basic resonated section 2?

    Thanks in advance.

    From ECS website:
These new exhaust pipe from Supersprint offer up to 25% greater exhaust flow than the original pipes offered before that were designed for sport street and light track use. This is perfect for vehicles that are heavily modified, turbocharged, or supercharged and can greatly benefit from the increased exhaust flow. Designed for vehicles that are capable of producing an excess of 400 horsepower, these pipes will ensure smooth exhaust flow all throughout the power band.

These pipes are resonated to prevent excess drone or noise at cruising speeds.

It amazes me that folk will spend £600+ on a modification which does not reap much benefit. ArvinMeritor and BMW M knew what they were doing.

You could say that about any upgrade - unless you have carried out NO mods to your car, your comment is a moot point .

Yeah— just because there’s a PDF about a specific area of the car doesn’t mean it’s more developed than other parts of the car.

... and most of the car is really, really good stock. That’s why so many mods are downgrades or sidegrades.

That said, this pipe does flow better than stock. That’s just only beneficial if you need it 😜

Why is the H pipe better than an X pipe on our cars? Or is that just a sound thing? Would an H crossover in Sec 1 rob power?

Refer to OP's original post on this thread, even the OEM Section 2 with twin 60mm pipes flow more CFM than a single 3".

I'm referring to just the crossover, not pipe sizing. I want to know if it would be beneficial to get a Sec 2 without a crossover and move it to Sec 1.

Crossover in section 1 does not work well.

Not sure why SS went with an “H” crossover, by now, it’s common knowledge that a “X” crossover flows better than an “H“ crossover. (X pipe for horsepower, H pipe for a tiny bit more torque down low)

When SS first released their TwinTube 2.5” Sec 2, I saw the “H” crossover and thought of Vanilla Ice in his 5.0 lol

Obioban, quick question, is there any info/data on why the Z4M has the crossover further downstream compared to the M3? if I recall correctly they were rated at 330 HP and 262 TQ.

If you want best flow efficiency merging the collector into a single pipe with a y-pipe is the best way.

I'll just get the 3.5" pipe then. Probably weighs less and has better flow. My car will only ever breath atmospheric pressure.

The only e46 m3 exhaust note I’ve ever liked was your JVT/scorza setup.

I think a similar thing would be achievable with ssv1 + scorza (and ar25 of course).

But yes, I realized it’s the engine that sounds good, not the exhaust.

I think when people watch the video of my car with that setup, most of what they're actually hearing is CSL airbox.

                                Sounds a bit big tbh
