Smg harness - what is the trick to separating

twist the outside then pull. It slides out as you twist and will release. when reinstalling, twist and push until it clicks.

Thanks. Thought it was something like that but was afraid of breaking it when I tried lightly doing that.

So is there some trick to separating the multi pronged large round connector for the smg system? Trying to replace the motor and can't get this dang connector separated.
