    SMG Relocation in 2020

This popped into my facebook feed: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...6940227243751/

Curious what the options are for SMG relocation in 2020. Majority of users have likely switched to manual. So far I am liking SMG for track duty. I don't drive the car on the street. Is this really worth it for 8 track weekends a (non-COVID) season? Seems like the pump would wear based more on mileage than abuse in this case.

I bought this kit early last year from Leighton and the other guy who was manufacturing them and yes as far as I know it is NLA. It really is a good kit (lines, reservoir, harness, and bracket) and definitely the best bracket I've ever seen for this purpose. Price is good as I paid $700. I did the swap and also refreshed the hydraulic unit with a new motor, internal seals, pressure sensor, temp sensor, o-rings, and newer accumulator. Temp dropped roughly 15-20 degrees Fahrenheit after the move. I think it was worth it as it greatly simplifies any future maintenance that might be required. However, I dropped some dollars but of course I really enjoy my SMG and have no plans of ever swapping.

At this point I'm not sure anyone else is even making a bracket for the drug bin relocation. Burkhart Engineering was but I didn't see it on their site and you may have to give them a call.

I got the asme kit minus the bracket. My line failed a few weeks ago where it slips into the connector. I was very disappointed that in about 1.5 years the lines started failing with minimal use of the car. I had to fork out $350 last week in Jax, FL at Pirtek to have new lines made. I am using VINCE's prototype bracket which is of amazing quality. You can see some pics on my instagram @060motorsports

Just so I understand and know for the future, one of your lines failed where it connects to one of the original hydraulic lines or where it connects to the SMG hydraulic unit? I've not had any issues at this point but will keep an eye out.

How did it fail (as in it started leaking, blow out, etc.) ?

I looked at Vince's on your instagram but I like the bracket that the other guy made better as the solenoids, motor, and sensors are oriented to be on top which makes maintenance easier.

It started leaking and car broke down. It leaked from where they connect to the original lines.

Since those items dont fail every day it is still very easy to remove the SMG pump with Vince's Bracket and or just loosen the bracket and move it back to work on those items. Also the bracket was designed to work with the Radium Catch can i have.

Need a little help diagnosing an issue. Hoping those that have relocated their SMG pumps can help.

I've driven a few hundred miles in my recently relocated smg pump with no issues. Shifts are fast, no dropped gears and no cog light.
The pump is very much more audible since it is close to the firewall. I can hear the pump motor time to time after a few shifts- that's normal. BUT every once in a while i get a loud "BUZZ" coming from that same area. The Buzz happens on downshifts/coming to a traffic light etc.
I can't figure out if this is normal. Everything is bolted down tight. Is the Buzz from air in my lines?? or something else?
                Any help is appreciated!

Buzzing can indicate air in the lines.

                    Hi All,

Anyone have a part list for full relocation of the SMG? Looks like a bracket plus extended pressure lines, SMG reservoir, is there anything else or where you can buy?

                    Thanks.
