tl;dr, Instrument cluster dead, only ABS and SRS lights come on. Car initially did not start, but after replacing ignition switch, car now starts. Cluster still dead.
Tried:
- Pulled/check Fuses 10, 34, 43 (these are fine)
- Replaced ignition switch (seems like this was a usual suspect after many internet searches)
- Pulled cluster, checked capacitors on back - they look OK, see photo. Checked capacitance of big mamba and it is accurate (somewhere around 4.7mF)
- Left fuse 43 out overnight
- Left entire cluster unplugged overnight
Of course, when it rains, it pours, and the CPU fan in my thinkpad (where I have all my scan tools) died, so I'm still waiting for a replacement to be able to scan for codes.
But love to get any thoughts from anyone who's gone through this!
And as a corollary - our cars are getting to that age where our electronics are end of life - I wonder what else we should start thinking about replacing.
