Has anyone here installed interior ambient lights on their car?

The thought just happened to come to my mind one day so I googled it and found this cool picture of an E46 with ambient light strips that almost perfectly match the oem orange lights. It looks very factory, kind of like newer BMW's and Merc's. I was wondering if anyone here has done it?

It looks kinda cool but I’m always worried about how it looks in daylight. Could look very ugly.

My opinion of course, but why anyone would want that? I personally want as little lighting in the car in my face while driving at night. And will be reflecting in the glasses and mirrors as it does in new cars.

Purely aesthetics, honestly. From the newer cars I've driven in the light is really not invasive at all at night, it blends quite nicely and isn't noticeable at all during the day. My old man's new Ford Explorer even has the options to change between like 8 different colors, its pretty cool. However, I have no idea how this would look on an E46 during the day. It could either look OEM or super cheap and ricey.
