Why do you say that? The whole point of me upgrading now is so that I *dont* have to go back inside the engine later[/QUOTE]

Lower comp you can run more boost and more ignition timing. Run pump fuel. If you keep the comp standard and you want to start chasing power you may struggle adding boost without race fuel or pulling ignition timing out.

My research for the race car led me to these weights, in grams, on forged rods and pistons that I could find information on. Stock S54 rods are 632 grams and stock pistons are 470 grams.

      Forged Rods
      CP-Carrillo: 491
      Pauter: 483
      Arrow-Precision: 567
      Supertech: 532

      Forged Pistons
      JE Pistons: 330
      Mahle: 357
      Wiseco: 370
      Wossner: 316
      Supertech: 306
CP-Carrillo: Surprisingly, couldn't get weight figure

Using CP-Carrillo rods and JE Pistons instead of stock saves 1,686 grams, or the weight of 1 1/3 rods and 2 1/2 pistons. I'm sure there are other rods/pistons out there, but these are those I'm willing to spend money on for my internals.

I'll weigh my CP pistons and rods sometime this week when i''m at the machine shop. I ended up going with molnar rods both off of recommendations by you guys and my machine shop.

Molnar are a good choice, the money you save can be spent on things that actually make power

Did you ever weigh your pistons and rods? Inquiring mind(s) want to know. 🤑

I'm surprised no one has mentioned MaXpeeding 😂
I'd love to see something like that survive a 600hp engine. I really think they would.

I have not. Sorry. Last time I was at the machine shop I was in a major rush and forgot to ask them. Rest assured, it will get done. Probably by the end of this week.

Hate to be that guy for you but I have been seriously contemplating trying these out as I’m currently in the process of rebuilding.
Debating between this or molnar rods and honestly I really don’t see why they wouldn’t work. Every other community has good experiences with them

Pretty much. Like any rod manufacturer, if they're way off or something, they'd probably send another set. I just want to know what corners they cut make them that cheap.

Idk, maybe the fact that they’re strictly just imported? No rebrand, no final finish in USA. Just supplier direct. They’re metal has been tested and holds up to standard. Maybe I’ll give them a swing after all and help open a new avenue for us.

Hopefully Ian isn't reading this thread...

I think it's fairly safe to test them.

😆 it all depends on your risk tolerance. What’s the worst that could happen?

They’re not finished in the USA? Well there’s your answer on why they’re so cheap

Is cutting $200-300 really worth it?

You’d want to check the big end and little end size with professional equipment and to make they are straight/flat and bores are perpendicular
