I think this is only for door lock. The new key should run the engine.

Most of the time the key's chip/connection was damaged due to dropping the key on ground.

I ordered from there. Emailed them a copy of my title (since I don't have a registration for my track car) and that was enough to prove ownership. Easy.

Odd...I ordered a new key this morning from BMWPartsWorldwide and they just emailed me a few moments ago to cancel the order. This was what they said:

Unfortunley we are unable to order you the key as all keys needs to be ordered in person at your local dealership. You will need to provide them with a ID and also a title or registration to your car. I apologize for the inconvenience.

I emailed them back to ask if I could send them a copy of my title or reg directly, but I suppose if that was an option, he would have said it in the email. So strange that some of you were able to order the key online, but now I'm unable to.

I had gotten a price from that link, which was slightly more than Bmwpartsworldwide, with shipping factored in.

But my dealership offered to lower their price a bit down to $180 (not quite a price match with bmwpartsworldwide, but as low as they could go) so I’m just going to order through them.
