Ya from what I read recently, they're back to only having 1 10w60 offering which is Edge euro car and yes, the bottles are ugly & pedestrian. Not fit for the king of engines, the s54, like the old gold tws /cry

Castrol Edge Euro 10w60 is $10/qt right now using their 20% off $100 order. Decent deal: https://www.autozone.com/p/castrol-m...15e99b/1151725

Call me crazy, but why not just buy the genuine stuff from FCP euro and use the lifetime warranty after that? Oil has been the only thing I’ve used that warranty on so far haha.

Honest question, is returning oil really worth the effort and cost? I’ve never done it but seems like it would be a pita to pour oil back into 6 bottles, double bag, and box. What’s the cost of shipping it back?

Feels odd to me to return used oil but I get why people do it since offer is there from FCPeuro so might as well.

Haha yeah it for sure felt weird mailing back old oil and a used filter, initially. FCP is a state away from me so shipping is like 20 bucks and I just use the box and packing that the new oil comes in. If needed I’ll put the containers in a garbage back first.

But for me it’s more of a pita recycling old oil locally. I have 10 5L jugs just sitting here that I’ve accumulated over the last 10 years. Haha now I am in over my head.

Yeah I’m in California and feel like the cost to ship to Connecticut is probably a lot. I totally get that recycling is a pita if you forget to do it for awhile but I just bring my oil container / drain pan and recycle everything in one go. Its also 4 min away too so its fast

                  Why 10w40??
I can't bring myself to use anything but 10w60 in these motors LOL.

The guy who rebuilt the engine would only warraty it if i used 10w40 from a few different suppliers. It all seems good 100k miles later.

It probably would be cheaper to go with OEM 10W60. The Motul oil was about half the price it is now 10 years ago

I've used Liquid Moly since I got my E46 M3 and have gone about 50k miles and have changed oil at 5k intervals. I bought the car from my brother who used Castrol supercar, and it didn't need topping off the oil level between changes like it did with the castrol when I made the switch.

I had good experiences with Motul 5w40 on a tuned 535i N54 engine. The engine oil temperatures were better then Mobil 1. If I remember correclty it was like 235 fahrenheit/celsius vs 240 f/c. I don't know if that means the oil holds the heat (slept in physics/whatever class would have helped with thermodynamics etc) and if that's even a good thing. I just noticed it on the Cobb Accessport.

I saw today that oil has gone up again. I was shocked seeing LM at $65 for 5 quarts a few weeks ago when I was ordering different oil for my moms E70 X5 diesel. Now 10w60 Liqui Moly is $87.99! I have one full LM bottle/ oil change leftover and then I'm going to try running Motul.

I just ordered a few cases of Motul 5w40 and 10w60. No point in paying similar price for inferior LiquiMarketing.

Can you not do returns to FCP’s Arizona location?

I just ordered some Ravenol RSS 10w60 to have on hand for next spring's oil change.

per FCP’s return policy everything points to the CT location. They have a warehouse in CA too now I think
