Supersprint resonated section 2 worth it?

Hey guys, Im about to have my euro headers and oem euro cats installed but i was thinking of changing my section 2 to the supersprint one which is resonated. Is there any added benefit since the OEM section 2 is resonated as well? Will this cut down my rasp and give me a bit more power?

    Thanks in advance.

Which ss sect 2 are you referring- to the X pipe or the 2.5" dual pipe? Both will negate rasp, but in different ways. Not because of the resonator, but because of their design.

Quite frankly, it's near impossible to improve upon the oe sect 2, proof of that is that supersprint's best (latest) effort was to copy it exactly, but increase the diameter by only 1/8". Unless you're getting close to 400whp, the 2.5" is a waste imo and ruins the car's sound.

The x pipe is totally different. Trades a bit of midrange for top end, supposedly. Really changes the sound, in mostly a good way. I call it a "tuner" sound, a little more exotic, kills rasp. I'm a big fan of rasp, but even I like the way the x pipe changes the sound.

This one - Supersprint Section 2 Resonator (60mm)

Ya, called the x pipe usually. Either way, I would always get a resonator. Resonators don't impede flow like cats do, in fact, they speed flow up a hair. And cancelling unwanted frequencies isn't a bad thing anyway, esp given that the x pipe gives a nice sound.

Thanks man. After 15 years of ownership I finally bit the bullet and started putting together some bolt ons for a little kick. Im aiming for a near full rasp elimination but was concerned since Im installing the euro catted sec 1 and eliminating the oem resonated section 1.

I have euro cats and SS sec 2 x pipe resonated and it eliminated all rasp.if that's what you're looking for then this is it.

Just fyi, the euro headers are the raspiest non-catted headers you could have picked.

              Most to least:
              stock/euro/csl
              ss stepped
ss long tube which is the one that everyone copied, fabspeed, evosport, SGT, AP, ebay jvt/topspeed.

Not sure about CPI or ARH.

Either way, euro headers are great and with the x-pipe, esp the resonated one, I'm sure you'll be tickled!

How does the 2.5” ruin the sound?

More hollow, very turbo sounding. No rasp, no character, no excitement. Sounded like I was driving a vacuum cleaner.

Probably has more to do with the rest of your setup.

I have SSV1 stepped, SS catted section 1, 2.5” SS section 2 and SS race section 3. It doesn’t sound like any vacuum cleaner I’ve ever heard

Your signature says stock section 2 & 3... then agree to disagree on it ruining the sound of the car.

That's now. I had SSv1s, v1 sect 1 decat, 2.5" SS sect 2 (unres) and a scorza, which is also 2.5" vs. your 2.36" SS race. I'm guessing the muffler dia made a difference, but perhaps the cats in your sect 1 did more than I would guess.

Either way, that was my exp. Most will be biased after having spent $ on a newly developed SS part. I scored a deal, $330, so maybe I wasn't as invested/biased. Trust me, who wouldn't want extra power and another supersprint part on their car?

I kinda get the turbo comparison because it seems like the frequency range is narrower, but if it's eliminating rasp I don't see that as bad. I have the x-pipe from the BF sale a couple years back, but I also have the old CPI RTX so I can't tell you what is responsible for most of the rasp elimination. On the original question of if it's worth it, I have to say yes, because I think the car in stock trim sounds like a kazoo and I wanted the rasp gone. I couldn't care less if the x pipe actually makes any power.

With stock header, CPI RTX, SS X pipe, SS Sport, and Evolve airbox I'm very pleased with the sound of the car.....finally.
