Passenger Side Mirror Motor

My passenger mirror's up/down tilt can no longer be controlled with the switch. Left/right tilt still works. There's a stored fault indicating a malfunction with the up/down motor.

Is there something I can try to fix this before replacing it? New replacements are pricey ($200+) and I'm not seeing any used on eBay.

(note: I had the passenger door panel off recently to do the window regulator. made sure that the connectors for the mirror motor were well secured at that time. problem started before I dug into the door panel and persists after.)

Do you hear the motor running, or is it dead?
Could be 3 things - switch, motor, or gears. If you head the motor but the mirror not moving - likely gears. If you don't hear the motor - its the motor. Can be replaced, but its a tedious job with bunch of disassembly and reassembly. Repair kits are cheap though.
