Front Differential bushing coming loose and backing out

    Hi everyone,
I had my diff bushings changed with subframe reinforcement and total suspension refreshment, however now the front differential bushing bolt keeps getting loose. My Mechanic retightened the bushing 3 times and had it replaced once, it literally becomes loose within minutes of driving and the thud comes back. Does anyone know of a fix to this ?
    thanks

    The bushing or the bolt?

The bolt mount is fairly easy to strip. It's possible that the threads in the diff are ruined and that's why the bolt keeps backing out.

Is this the bushing bolt or both the bolt and the bushing itself? Is the bushing OE or aftermarket?
If its the bolt I imagine a new bolt and some loctite is your solution.

Thanks for the responses, updated the original post. Its the bushing bolt that is backing out. The bushing is aftermarket revshift polyurethane.

If it's backing out within minutes of driving, then there's a good chance the threads in the mount are messed up. The only way to really inspect is to drop the diff.

Happened to mine and I initially fixed it with a timesert. I either installed it wrong or the mount was too messed up for it to seat correctly. Just recently re-fixed it by drilling and tapping the mount for an M20 bolt. Went into more detail on this post in my journal: https://nam3forum.com/forums/forum/m...8088#post68088.

If you can torque it to spec, a Nord lock washer will keep it from coming loose again. I use them on my turbo and the front differential bolt. They have to tighten more before they release. As mentioned though, those threads are really easy to strip and putting a timesert in is not fun.

Damn I wish I would have known of those before I put my car back together. If my front diff bolt ever loosens up again I'm putting one of those in.
