Street car the OE Exide battery IMO, normally get a solid 10 years if looked after. Even when crappy shops do their best to kill it

I can take a picture of what the previous owner fab'd for mine but its basically a U shaped piece of flat aluminum with a hole drilled out for the button on top and two L shaped brackes at the bottom to keep it centered.Originally posted by dl.m3 View PostI ordered a ATX-20-HD. If you could yea that'd be great, I was gonna do L brackets too of some sort. I didn't want the Restart version because I was worried it would go to sleep too often and then having to go in the trunk everytime to wake it up to start my car.Originally posted by eacmen View Post

It only goes into sleep mode if the voltage drops to where it is close to dying. It basically sees the drop and cuts the connection before it discharges completely. You go into the trunk and hit the button (or use the remote for the higher end models) to restore the connection so you can start the car with the little bit of charge that it saved. It was the only type of LiFePO battery that I considered because I didn't want to have to carry an extra jumper pack.Originally posted by dl.m3 View Post

I would seriously reconsider getting the restart button if you can. Otherwise you will need a jump starter if the car sits for too long.

Yeah I thought about it, but I got their battery tracker so I can see the capacity at all times on my phone, and I'll have a lithium trickle charger on it for when it'll be parked for a while.Originally posted by eacmen View Post

Did you decide on one? If you like to listen to your music on the accessory position while working on your car or cleaning it, you should go for the Optima Yellow Top. You just need a 3/4 - 1" board to go under the hold down clamp and it fits snug in place, it won't move at all. Plus it's a lot lighter. The yellow top is deep cycle and designed to be deeply discharged without being damaged. I have an optima yellow top. Its the battery i use in all my vehicles. Have one in my 2008 toyota with a sound system. Installed it with the system in 2008. Have drained it dead couple of times in recent years and it still holds a full charge. 12 years. Optima makes a yellowtop for the e46.
