    Mk60 disable dsc completely?

So I know on the MK 20 cars you can press the DSC button and the light comes on the dash but there's still some form of traction control that can engage mainly in times of wheel spin coming at around the corner. and on the MK 20 cars if you press and hold the DSC button for 10 or 12 seconds the light will stay on and it will not turn off until you turn the ignition off and turn it back on which meant that the system was completely disabled.

On the MK 60 cars like in my car or in my case I have the ZCP MK60 module... I can press the DSC button and the light turns on I can press it once and it turns off I was under the assumption that pressing out once and you see the light come on means it is completely disabled...

I saw online for other MK 60 threads where people stated that they would press and hold the DSC button and they would get the DSC light and the brake light illuminated in the cluster
I tried this and I didn't get that.

However earlier today I was taking a right turn and I thought my wheel was completely straight but I laid into it on first gear and at about 6,000 rpms I felt throttle cut out when I was in boost (about 9psi)

So I went to check my car right now and if I press and hold the DSC button the light just turns off and it won't turn back on sometimes other times it will eventually come back on if I repeatedly press the DSC button over and over again.

so I'm just curious on the MK 60 cars what is the definitive way to completely disable DSC where there's no intervention short of pulling the fuse?

I remember just pressing the button. I tried to hold the DSC button down and the car started doing some weird stuff.

I've got M sport mode programmed on my non-ZCP car. Single press shows DSC symbol and is M Track mode, a long press shows DSC symbol + "Brake" and that is DSC off, supposedly.

On my 10/02 build, I have the S light on for M-track mode and hold DSC for the yellow DSC light.

That is just so weird that the MK 20 cars have the ability to completely disable DSC by pressing holding for 12 seconds but with MK 60 cars you only get supposed on or off with one button press but even when it says it's off it's not truly off.

My 2003 with mk60 goes completely off. There’s no question. It’s a dedicated track car. Press and hold for both dsc and brake lights. There is absolutely no sort of traction control unless you count abs if I accidentally lock the wheels up but that’s pretty rare for me.

2003 / Mk60 programmed for M track here. One press M track, 5 sec long press completely off indicated by yellow "brake" light.

I mean I guess mine should be the same I have the MK 60 with m track mode it's a ZCP module so it works with the single button in my steering wheel.single button pressing the steering wheel gives me mtrak mode, when I press the DSC button once and let go the DSC light comes on which is supposed to mean the DSC is somewhat disabled...

But if I press and hold the DSC button after about 8 seconds the DSC triangle light just disappears and goes away I never get a yellow brake light.

I'm interested to see what happens with other people that have the ZCP module.

Misconception. If you hold the button for 12 seconds, the module assumes the button is dead and DSC stays on. on an M3 (without m-track retrofitted), single press is true off. With m-track retrofitted, press and hold for a few seconds is true off.

thanks for the info That's good to know but I'm still trying to figure out why when I press and hold my DSC button it still doesn't show the yellow brake light like other people get.

If I press my DSC button the DSC light and the cluster turns on and if I press the button again it turns off. If I try pressing holding the button for 5 seconds nothing happens If I keep holding it for 8 or 9 seconds the light just turns off and I guess at that point like you said it assumes the DSC button is dead and if I wait a few more seconds it will eventually go back to normal and the button works as expected but overall the end result is pressing holding and any combination for me never really disables it like for other people.

I noticed using NCS expert if I look at the trace file for the cluster there's an option for M track mode display and mine is currently set to active which I assume is correct and that was probably set when I put in the VO for competition package and coded the cluster. But I can't think of any other reason or coding that I may have done that would put the cluster and DSC module in a state where the yellow brake light no longer illuminates with holding the button down.

You’re reading information about non-Ms. The M3 behaves as you’re experiencing

05 M3, no mtrack mode coded. When I'm on track, press DSC button once, it turns it off, because I can do power slides without any intervention.

Same here. '04 M3 without m track mode. I push it once, get the triangle with the circular arrow in the middle of the display. Sure seems to be fully off as I haven't necessarily looped it (yet) but I've had the ass end hanging out quite a bit, and only fixed it with my inputs. When I press and hold the button, nothing happens.

This was the same behavior on my Z4M, before DTC coding, one press shut it off. Now one press turns traction off and a long press turns all assistance off
