    Whos running radar?

I am looking for some ideas on getting a nice radar detector (V1 likely) and have seen where some are able to install the detector itself out of sight with it's antennas on the front/rear glass more or less out of sight.
I want to run a V1 or the like but do not really want that big radar unit right up on the windshield. I do not see on the Valentine website any antenna "extensions" so I assume the setups I have seen online are homemade where they must have taken the unit apart to some degree and extended the antenna portion to suitable area while leaving the main unit out of sight.

I just got a MASSIVE ticket while street racing, I am extremely embarrassed as I only managed one other small speeding ticket back in my high school days and am now 36. My rates are likely going up for some time now after that childish move. Need to get into autoX so that type of behavior stays off of public roads.

You could get the adapter to run it under your gauge cluster. Any reason you do not want the radar on your windshield? It can be hard wired.

I wouldn't want it up on the windshield for purely aesthetic reasons although that is likely the only viable option and that wouldn't be too bad if it might save me a ticket, after loosing 8pts in one citation I'm all puckered up now.

in all seriousness, years ago i was running an Escort Passport (comparable to a Valentine V1 at the time)....by the time the laser registered on my radar, i was already caught. I sold the radar to pay for the tickets.....he couldn't get me on the actual radar (not illegal at the time in NYC), so he hit me with obstruction of view & tint tickets for each front window.....oh and speeding too. I have my V1 mounted just above the line of sight when the visor is down you can’t see it. I always drive with them down so it’s out of sight. I have my old iPhone 6 on a magnet mount with the V1 app on while driving. Works good.

V1 in all the cars. They save me more in the po dubk town, doing 39 in a 25mph type shit.

Dont go as cheap as antknee with that exposed Panasonic microwave oven nut cooker unit, but in all seriousness, they probably have a limited lifespan.

With all the new cars having lane departure this, laser guided that... its just false city. So i think there will be a point where we are saturated abd they just turn into noisy boxes.

I have abstained from upgrading to the newest V1 that just came out.

Oh and yeah, track or autox if you want to race. Autox is good, but track shows you how slow you really are.

I have an escort 8500 but it normally sits in the glovebox unless I’m driving to Colorado. There’s a road course and drag strip at Pacific Junction. If you haven’t been there, it’s a lot of fun. It’s about a 10-15 minute drive from Bellevue. I try to go a couple times a month during the summer.

Every car is hardwired for a V1. I don't use the stupid suction cups because they suck. I use the visor clip and it keeps it from rattling around.

That being said, everyone should upgrade to the V2.

What's the point of this mirror display? You still have to mount the V1 somewhere. I have mine mounted just above and to the left of my rear view mirror, which is pretty much just above where that mirror display would have been.

A radar detector is not ticket proof. It detects radar, not cops

About the time proximity radar on semi truck became prevalent, my V1 crapped out.
The roads are packed with unmarked radar cars, photo radar with anpr, and bad drivers so I try to go no faster than 5 over.

I understand, and I realize the best way to not get a ticket is to not speed, I had only one speeding 20 years ago previous to this one.
I drive all day for work and consider myself a careful and patient driver but if a radar detector might save me from getting another ticket if I happen to go a bit fast from time to time in the M3 its worth it to me.
