Is blue loctite ok with cam bolts?

So I used the Lang cam bolts, they come with red loctite but as I was so fixated with the Beisan instructions I ended up using the blue loctite per beisan. I know in the beisan instructions you are using the BMW T30 cams bolts and not the Lang bolts.

Should I pull these out, clean the blue loctite off and use the red? Also should I be buying new bolts? Lang seems to think using the red stuff is pretty important.

Edit: I Used Permatex 24206 which is rated for 300F temps, the Red loctite that Lang included with the bolts (Red 263) has the same temp rating of 300F

Also, just bought a second set of bolts as not to reuse the bolts I just torqued.

Anything better than acetone to remove the loctite on the female threads?

Blue loctite is fine. You don't need them to be permanently held in, you just don't want them to start loosening up with vibrations. Plus red will make it really annoying to get things back out if you ever need to (requires heating up to break down).

I would use loctite 243 (surface insensitive / oil tolerant blue)

Thanks, I think I'll remove them and use the blue 243, just a matter of getting all the old loctite out of the threads now, I used way too much.

I am interested as well, I've got those that I took out for the Lang bolts.

In theory if they haven’t stretched they’re okay to reuse. In practice it is very difficult to install the OE bolts and not end up stretching them.

Lang’s bolts should be fine to reuse. I’m personally using Turbotoy’s modified arp bolts and have reused them several times.
