    Lower PCV hose removal

I'm trying to replace the lower PCV hose. The one that goes from the bottom side of the intake manifold to the oil pan. Is there a trick to disconnecting it from the intake manifold side? Do I just pry the thing off?

This the part I'm trying to remove and replace.

My car is a 2004 with the earlier style upper PCV hose.

I find it easier to stick my hand into the manifold and push it out rather than try to pry it out from the bottom

Twist and pull, iirc. So turn it about 90 degrees, pulling a bit, and it should pop out.

I'm with Heinz on this one, it had me stumped when I tried to undo mine, but from the 3rd pic in the link you can see the airbox end is of a press/spread fit. So if you stick your hand into the abyss, locate it and squeeze the 4 tips together as best you can whilst pushing it downwards is my advice. It might not fall out, but you'll undo the "locking" mechanism and should push out easily afterwards.

You can't twist it, it just pulls straight out. There's a couple tabs on either side of the intake manifold bung that prevent it from rotating . You can see them in this pic:

Thanks for the tips everyone! I was able to disconnect it. I used a 10mm socket to push from the inside of the manifold with my right hand, which released the tabs just enough to allow me to pull it out from the bottom with my left.

              Great idea.

Thank you for posting this picture. I spent hours looking for orientation of that stupid fitting. I had to epoxy one on recently and now I see I did it right.

I twist it off, I don't know what to tell you. Maybe the effect of twisting is enough leverage for it to pop off or maybe one of those little "edge" is broken which helps the twist action, IDK.

You know how many times I've removed that thing?

Lol same. It's gotten to the point where if I'm doing any work in the area I'll just remove the intake. Takes me less time to remove it than to try and work around it.
