If you don’t have a strut brace already it’s advisable for street. You want one that covers the strut tower top to dissipate impacts. As for reinforcement plates, they don’t hurt. But a decent brace would have priority over that. The M3 top strut mount shape is larger than non-Ms to spread the load and limit “mushrooming”. Camber plates often have sharp edges and dig into the tower causing damage.

Thanks! Yeah I forgot to mention I have GC camber plates installed on the car. Now to decide on a strut brace.

I too have an early production build (2/01) and I noticed a pretty significant difference with my dmg bar. Granted the rest of the car was stock at the time, so any change probably would’ve been noticeable.

You'll be all set with GC plates and a strut brace - don't need any other reinforcement.

Unless you’re tying the bar into the firewall for front end clip like the F8X then the OEM bar is all you really need.

              Agreed.

I didnt feel any performance difference between stock and the Mason bar. But the early models had no bar, so the Mason was definitely an upgrade.

But the stock mounts are weak and once they start to fail upgrading to a one piece mason or RE makes sense to me.

If your stock bar is in good shape just leave it as is.

If they are anything like the ones we have in Los Angeles, a strut bar is not going to help you my friend 😅

Still don’t see how a strut bar is going to help you but if they do, more for power to have them on 👍

After over 2' of snow in the last few weeks and a weekly average of about 5° we are going to have plenty. Fun stuff.

I think Omaha wins worst potholes hands down. The freeze/thaw and poor maintenance does a number on the roads here. As for the stock strut bar not doing anything, I can feel a huge difference if I leave it off. It’s way worse if you don’t have the aluminum under tray installed.

Reviving a stale thread. Does anyone have experience with the DMG PRO-46 R strut brace? I like the fact the center section can be removed without unbolting the mount plates.
