So I'm finishing up my s54b32 swap into a 323i (ms42) I have no codes, no engine lights, I have deleted the ews, I have jumped wires 1 and 3 from the x1659 connector, just cranks no start. Checking the fuel pressure tomorrow, if anyone has some other ideas please feel free to leave them! Thanks

what all did you replace with your swap? i have heard of this happening with someone that did an S54 swap and they did NOT replace the DME cage/transmission/o2 harness setup and tried to keep it in place. basically did you swap in ALL S54 engine harness stuff? are you sure you have your wiring right? how did you do your fuel pump wiring?
S54 DME uses an EKP relay setup and is pinned that way.
MS42 has Fuel pump on PIN 10 x60004 but the MSS54 DME also uses a Euro fuel pump on pin 10 x60004 so the fuel pump should just work but eventually the DME would need the DTC for EKP relay coded out but that along would not cause a no start condition.
did you check your CRANK position sensor? check the wiring for it and inspect the sensor. I once had a swap we were doing and the crank pos sensor looked OK yet it wasnt working. when i pulled back the rubber boot, the wires were complete damaged and pulled out of the pin slots, i had to swap in a new/used one.
also check your fuel filter connections. I also one time had a no start condition and it was because i had the fuel FEED and Return backwards for the fuel filter.

when you say you "deleted EWS" do you mean you deleted EWS in the software in the S54 DME as well as removing the module box under the dash and jumping the wires?
how did you perform the EWS delete in the DME?
I too have had instances where i swear i checked the box for EWS delete in the ECUWorx binary tool but when i saved, the setting didnt get saved. I then saw through trial and error that as i was going through the motions of checking boxes.. i would check mark the ews delete but then as i marked other boxes below it... some UI interface issue with the program was causing the EWS to get UNchecked when i check marked other options. (i think the developer has the check box options in his design interface slightly too close to each other or possibly slight overlaps causing that.) so you have to make sure you precisely check all your options including EWS and make sure its still check marked when you save.
i would do another READ of your DME and then open that TUNE file you read to make sure EWS is still marked to be deleted.
the issue you are describing of crank but no start and your fuel is priming etc.. strongly suggests that the EWS is not deleted in the DME hence not getting any spark.

It lives... had a few things going against me. 1: I forgot to plug in the obd cap under the hood, Idk if that mattered. 2: Bad/old fuel while checking the fuel pressure/lines a lot of nasty discolored fuel came out. (this car hasn't ran in about 5 years) 3: I had the EWS x1859 plugged in, that is wrong. Leave it unplugged. 4: I plugged in the LCM this time... again can't confirm if this effected anything! stay thirsty friends!Last edited by 332; 02-03-2021, 01:19 PM.

to me when i see something like that it screams:
- bad/faulty EWS module
- Key is not original or has bad battery in the keyfob
- Keyfob circuit board is damaged water damaged
- EWS Transponder Keyring antenna in the ignition tumbler is bad/faulty
the thing with EWS is even if you delete the EWS in teh ECU.. that just means the ECU can be used in ANY car not just its original car however if you have an issue with your EWS on the Chassis side such as bad ews module, bad keyring, bad transponder, bad circuit board in keyfob, then your car will not start either.
glad you got it sorted out and know the engine starts however if you actually care about the EWS from a key perspective (currently anyone can steal your car now by breaking your ignition tumbler since the EWS module is bypassed) then i would investigate the other EWS chassis related components.
