Help needed: DSC light + TPMS light on solid after tire swap

Like the title says, pulled the wheels off the M and brought them to my local shop to have the tires replaced. Before putting them back on, I gave the wheel wells and BBK a good wipedown with diluted simple green. Threw a quick coat of wax on the wheels and BBK (hey why not; I'm already there) then put the wheels back on. Took it for a drive and immediately had the DSC and TPMS lights on. Pulled the codes with INPA and got the following:
    German English
    1. CAN DME 4 Botschaft nicht empfangen CAN DME 4 message not received
    2. ASC Taster ASC Button
    3. gierraten sensor elektrisch defekt Yaw rate sensor electrically defective

I'm pretty sure #1 has to do with the fact that I have EWS bypassed as the car now has a MSS54HP DME (car is an 10/01 build).
#2 is the DSC button itself? Or it is seeing a bad input somewhere?
    #3 is expensive as hell.

Would a broken wheel speed sensor give me these same symptoms? I find it hard to believe that the yaw rate sensor electrically died when the wheels were off the car (although it is original to the car). I looked around and didn't notice any loose wires.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Mike

Did you re-learn new tire diameters after the swap? Procedure is in your manual. Check same-axle pressures before.

If that doesn't fix it then clean your wheel speed sensors.

IMO: I wouldn't go spraying Simple Green around. It happily eats aluminum. Not sure what it might do to a WSS.

What tire sizes were put on?

All tire pressures are @ 35 psig.

Unable to perform the reset procedure. The TPMS and DSC lights are continuously ON when the key is in the ON position.

Have not cleaned the wheel speed sensors.

On second thought, it wasn't simple green. Used car soap left over from cleaning the wheels.

Would a broken wheel speed sensor wire show up as its own fault code?

Doubtful you damaged a WSS with a simple wheel change.

What specific re-learn procedure did you follow?

A failed wheel speed sensor will give you a very specific error. Can't remember exactly what it is, but I recently ripped the cable of my front right sensor in half and the fault code specifically said the failure was from the front right sensor.

I used INPA to reset TPMS. Have INPA and NCS Expert on my Mac running Windows XP on Virtualbox.

Reset all codes this morning and then went for a short drive down our access road. All wheel speed sensor display accurate speed. All lights in dash were initially clear except TPMS slowly flashing yellow. Then at about 10 mph DSC kicked in hard and DSC, TPMS, Brake and ABS lights all came on. After stopping completely the Brake and ABS lights went out. DSC and TPMS lights in solid. Pulled codes and got the same yaw rate sensor electrically defective plus a new one "yaw rate sensor implausible".

Looks like the yaw rate sensor just died.

Anything else to look at before I drop a load of cash on a yaw rate sensor?

This was helpful in eliminating the wheel speed sensors as the issue.

                Thanks,

Updating this thread in case anyone else has the same issue.

Took a chance and bought a used yaw sensor off of eBay. About $90 shipped to the house. Installed, cleared the codes and all is well with they DSC now.
If you research the location of the sensor, you’ll find it’s anywhere from in front of to behind the drivers seat under the carpet. Mine was located just in front of the driver’s seat. No need to take the seat out - just lean it back and peel the carpet back.
