Powerfolding wing mirror fault

Retro fitted power folding mirrors to my e46 m3 and can not get them to fold at the same time in the same direction.









What I have tried so far -

- I have manually tried to fold one mirror down in to the correct position
- I have disconnected one - got them both down in the correct position and reattached the plug but when I click the button one stays down and one goes up.
- I have disconnected the battery for a long time to reset the ecu.
- I have fitted the original wing mirror modules of the original car the wing mirrors came off.
- I have checked the wiring of the plugs and both have the correct wiring and the correct colours in each terminal. I got this from website guide.

1: Thick Blue (empty if you have Manual fold mirrors)
2: Thick White (empty if you have Manual fold mirrors)
3: Red
4: Grey
5: Black
6: Green
7: Brown
8: Empty
9: Empty
10: Thin white
11: Pink
12: Orange

Is their anything else I can try? Could it be coding or some kind of reset for the mirrors? Or maybe the guide on the website has the wrong wiring. Some one has suggested swapping the blue and white (thick) wires on one mirror but unsure weather to do this.

Swap the motor wires? If the motors are just regular brushed DC motors (I don't see why they wouldn't be), swapping the wires will just make them spin in the opposite direction. It wont't harm the motors in any way. Just make sure to test everything to ensure that they don't try to spin past their limits and mess up the gearbox.

Also, I've been meaning to do this retrofit. Did you get the full folding mirror assembly off of a euro car? Or did you source the motors from somewhere and transplant them to your original assemblies?

I brought the mirrors off a euro car and did a shell swap. Will try swapping the wires.

So it’s not like one is stuck and stopping while the other goes correct? One side will go up always while the other stays down? I believe they do sense resistance.
When you disconnect one will the other perform up/down by the switch? This work properly for either mirror when other is disconnected?

Yeah that’s odd, every once in a while recently my OEM autofold mirrors has passenger side that stays up. I have to push button and quickly have to manually nudge it down to allow motor to catch and get it to cycle.

All fixed now. The passenger wiring pins need to be swapped around in the terminals, WHITE IN PIN 1 & BLUE IN PIN 2

Its really annoying because non of the wiring guides tell you this.

Oh I didn’t notice you pulled the wires from connector prior to install. Thought you just used the Internet pin sheet to confirm what was already there.
