    Inexpensive Foglight delete?

    Hello all,

I'm trying to figure out a way to put in a clean looking foglight delete without spending $200+ on Hard Motorsport's kit. The reason I'm doing this is because my fog lights are broken and won't mount after a few years of autocross and since I never use them, I don't want to spend $250 on replacing them. I've been driving around for a while now with the foglights simply removed, but it doesn't look very clean. I was expecting someone would have come up with a replica of the normal plastic foglight shield that simply has the whole filled in, but no one has done that. I was thinking it might be possible to glue something into the hole on my existing shields, but I'm not sure how to go about making or finding a piece to glue in there.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

Only thing that comes to mind as a functional replacement is Obioban’s brake duct project.

Just get some cheap aftermarket foglights? You don't even have to hook them up.

Grab an extra center mesh grille from a junkyard bumper, or buy a new one if you can't find any. Cut it to size of the bumper holes and then finish with some weather stripping to hold the mesh in place. I've seen this done with various different types of mesh before but IMO finding the factory center grille looks a million times better.

This is what we did, same idea as above but with a little different execution.

I wouldn’t even put a mesh on it. Trim the mounting points and add ducting. The open holes look sportier IMO.

Bad picture but I actually built foglight delete panels. Stock foglight trims with a plasti-molding plastic center. Painted black so everything looks uniform.

Why not just leave them open? Its free and still allows air to go towards the brakes

Thanks for the responses, guys! These are great ideas.

I want to put something in hole to prevent a bird or something getting caught in the fender liner, plus the windshield washer tank is very obvious and ugly when viewed from the front, otherwise I would just leave it open.

For those of you who cut and installed a plastic mesh/grille section, what did you use to secure the piece to the bumper cover?

pawa_k2001, I really like what you did. How did you go about getting a plastic piece molded to fit in the stock foglight cover?

On our setup the car has a S85 swap and the oil filter housing is in the RF brake duct area, and the LF brake duct area contains the oil cooler. If you look closely the RH side is blocked off and the LH is open. We just backed up the mesh with a solid piece of black plastic and everything is secured with 3M windshield urethane.

                      Wanna go super cheap?

                      Wanna retain stock brake ducts?

Have an Eventuri that relies on the stock fog light trim?

$0. Stuff in my garage. The plastic is Kydex…I use it to make stuff for my other…umm…hobbies.

                          Mine cost me $0.

Find some black plastic in your home.

Acquire glue, the stronger the better.

Cut the black flat plastic to size and glue the shit outta it on the backside of the foglight trim.

                          Done.

I saw glue as a good option, definitely a cleaner appearance.

I chose the 1/8" rivets...maybe I just wanted to be done the job without waiting on glue. But, I justified using rivets because I can easily remove them and retrofit the light. I haven't determined why I might ever do that...maybe a cannonball. I was 10 when that movie came out.
