Inexpensive fan clutch tool?

i've been using the flathead + hammer method for years.....just looking for a cheap tool (amazon), but the reviews are all over the place there.

Anyone recommend one they have used?

i have searched like i mentioned in my original post, with reviews on amazon being all over the place.

wanted first hand experience with one of them.

I bought a 32mm wrench ($13) from home depot years ago for this purpose, works like a charm, of course with 1 smack of a rubber mallet.

This is my method, too. Works great, and sure feels good to just smack hell out of that car once in a while!!

If you own the car, then there is no need for any special tool. Just a 32mm Crescent wrench and a medium hammer. Note: don't torque the fan nut during install; just snug it until it bottomed and stop. Next time to remove just a firm tap of hammer on the wrench will loosen it.

Yea i usually just spin it back on and let the car tighten it when the fan goes on

I also just bought this. its a perfectly usable set of tools that does the job its intended to do. Buy it and don't look back.

The fan nut has to be screwed on until it bottomed out; if not when the engine runs the nut will spin too fast and ended up very tight.

The tool sucks on the S54, almost no room to grab the water pump bolts. Just keep using a big wrench and mallet. Metal mallets provide a nice quick impulse that loosens it easier vs rubber.

You know, they should make the clutch with a pushing pin, and we just push the pin in to lock the clutch and hand turn the fan off without any tools
