Regarding ETA: I had a discussion with Pat @ ECS. This is an automated ETA given by their system. They are putting the PO with Federico @ Supersprint. They will have precise datas tomorrow or Monday from SS directly.
    EDIT: never mind lol

So my buddy is getting his on the 7th. Why is mine until October 12th? Was it availability FCFS?

Me too. Unfortunately, I’ve been not driving the m until I get the rod bearings done. Was going to get them done last summer and COVID happened. Was planning on doing the headers at the same time as vanos lockdown, cooling system refresh and rod bearings. this means another summer with my car parked. Uughhh!!!!

at least I’ll have a fully sorted car for next summer. And it’s a good thing my daily driver is a hoot.

How nice of Turner to sign me up for their newsletter without me asking for it 🙃

Any updates on when we’ll be invoiced? I’m looking to pull the trigger on a the airbox here soon.

Still, increasing piping size has a detrimental effect on the tone imo. Best sounding M3s have 55mm outlets (csl headers, Fabspeeds, SS tubulares) and oe sect 2s or x pipe sect 2s. My friend's car with v2s and euro cats sounds amazing with the scorza on, but my car sounds just ok and is much quieter, with v1s and 2.5" sect 1.
I don't think any e46 m3 exhaust note sounds "good". If you want an e46 M3 to sound good, you get the sound from the airbox-- and make the exhaust quiet enough you can't hear it over the airbox. That gets you MacLaren F1 sound track.

Otherwise, no matter what you do, it's just not going to sound good compared to a car with an actual good exhaust note.

Search for Obioban's review of this part and you'll read about how it quites the exhaust down in general as well as eliminating some rasp.

If you lose power I would imagine we are talking low end duo decreased back pressure and over-kill piping diameter for not enough air flow from engine.
I'm my mind this pipe is only for cammed/airboxed cars, but I only base that on what I've read so once again, I may be wrong.

The Dixis should mount up to the SS Sec. 2 just fine but with aftermarket parts there can always be fitment issues as it sounds like you may have run into with the Miltek. My SSV1'S and/or SCZA muffler cause my OE section 2 to almost hit the diff OPF, I want the oversized SS Sec.2 but know it would make contact and I don't want a can a worms there.
Thank you for your input. I've read Obioban's review (and every thing I could find on the 2.5) but I shall re-read as it was a while back. If I remember correctly, he enjoyed the change in tone and Tbone did not but their cars are far more modified than mine so I don't know what to expect really.

I am a bit concerned with over piping this system. My thought is that I already have 2.5 in the headers, section 1 (no added resonators) and may as well add the oversized section 2 to match. Glad to hear it should quiet/tone down the rasp, that's why I'll give this a shot. I bought the car with the Miltek Section 2/3 and the car had zero rasp so I never experienced it or understood why some do not enjoy it. Then I added Dixis with the OEM 2 and introduced mega rasp, like ear splitting with the windows down. I think the nature of the Dixis Ti amplifies the rasp but I don't have another car to compare. Bummer on your clearance issue, I wonder if its the SCZA and the angle where it likes to sit.

    1. Anyone know if the SS section 2 will reduce the rasp in comparison to OEM? (already committed to GB and willing to take the cost risk)
    2. If I lose power with this setup, where is that on the band? Low or midrange torque, upper?

    Is your section 1 resonated?

I think it's more or less been unofficially decided that unless you have airbox and cams the full 2.5" isn't the way to go. I'll probably never do the cams, although I never thought I would do the airbox either for that matter.
That being said I’m currently not maximizing my power down low thanks to my ARH. The V1 setup should only bump me up a bit if anything. The section 2 will be like a preventative addition while I wait on these cams. Either way, I think going to a 2.5” setup from headers all the way to section 2 will only benefit me as of now, and give me room to grow when the 280/272s come in.

Interesting point about robbing power without the cams. I went ahead and got the section 2, and am working out a V1 setup now. I can deal with a small potential of ribbed power for a short period, especially if the Shrick cams GB comes to fruition.
