Bootloader update MSS54HP & MSS54HP CSL via OBD

Hi,

I develop a new MSS54HP program and a Python script to update the bootloader (32300) into a MSS54HP CSL bootloader (32500) via OBD. It can be written with MSSFlasher (.bin) or WinKFP (.0pa).

Don’t know yet what I will do with them. The program is finished and released but the script is just a prototype.

Yes I think it could work but unfortunately I don't have a MSS52 to test.

Original MSS54 or MSS54HP (CSL) softwares don't allow to update this sector but it is possible by adding custom code.

Can this custom code be used to make 1:1 clone backup of the entire 1 MB including the boot loaders (master/slave)?

And this 1:1 clone be later used with custom code to do a full 1 MB write including boot loaders?

The JMGarage for MS43 with its custom code allows making this 1:1 clone backup via OBD, but requires MS43 to be in boot mode to inject its custom code to RAM.

Sounds like MSS54HP doesn't require to be in boot mode to add custom code?

So the issue that requires the Terra workaround for non-CSL DMEs, is this the solution? If the boot sector is CSL, will North American software read the car anymore? I have access to ISTA and it would suck to only be stuck with INPA from here on.

I don't know about the compatibility between the CSL bootloader and North American softwares. The only think I can say is that this solution allows to write the oem CSL bootloader or any custom bootloader without opening the ecu.

So this basically turns an HP into a CSL without having to solder anything? I have issues with Terra's work around. My DME hates it. I never learned to code as part of our former vice president's advice but this appears extremely useful.

Yes, it allows to write the OEM CSL boot+prog+tune via obd. No need to open the dme.

What is your issue with the Terra's CSL clone fullbinary ?
