Was the engine rebuild with different than OEM components?

The engine was built with all BMW parts from FCP Euro. The reason I question anything is because I used a non-bmw timing, bridge and pins when I did the timing.

The engine has been running great with no other issues other than this weird pinging sound that just started coming out of nowhere

I'm on the CSL tune with the non CSL Vanos offsets that I found on these forums.

If the Vanos test comes back clean then I'm going to try using a stock CSL too without modified Vanos offsets and see if that changes anything.

So I had a question about the Vanos test.

One of my cars is starting to have the marbles in a can sound at low RPM with a load on the engine. Sounds like pinging but it's a fresh rebuild. It's the same sign you're hearing cars when you run low octane fuel when you get the marbles in the canned sound.

Doing some searching I came across several instances where they mentioned timing being off.

I have never heard the pinging before until recently, so my guess is maybe it would probably go away if I reset Vanos adaptations and then probably come back

I also had these Shadow codes. I never saw a check engine light but I decided to check codes today and saw these Shadow codes. Inlet Vanos retard valve errors

I had a p0011 and p0014.

These are camshaft position sensors. Once these don't work, the VANOS test won't work.

I had a p0011 and p0014. Then I changed my solenoid pack, cleaned the valve body and changed the o rings. After that I was getting a p0012 code but my p0011 and p0014 disappeared. Also my car would not stay on as it would die when coming to a stop.

ended up getting the car towed to a shop. We will see what they say.

Hi! Intake camshaft is out of spec on 2 degrees but here shouldnt be any issues, but it not work in full 60 degrees, 59 only, same with exhaust- position is good but 47 degrees, should be 48. Reaction time is good!
