Good work Bento, your speed through 9 is impressive! A few things to consider: Hold your hands at 9/3 not 9:45/2:15. Try putting your thumbs/index finger at the top of the wheel spoke, not your pinkie.

As for driving, consider shifting into 4th between turns 3&4 with turn for just being a check of the brakes, turn in and go... it feels like your doing more of a sanity brake there, more than needed. The car is ready for it, your in tune with the car enough to reach for the shift, but your brain second guessed it. Next time see if the car supports 4th gear through turn 4 with less brake. Same with turn 6 in a way, you shift into 4th so quickly after the track out, I think you could get away with leaving it in 4th through 6, especially if you get sucked into the camber of the corner properly. The car looks like a joy to drive though, really nicely setup and drama free.

hey S14, Thanks so much for the feedback. This was my first time out with 4.10 diff so was definitely hunting for which gear to be in. After review of the footage, definitely agree on all counts. Looking forward to heading South and trying it again soon. Next up Thunderhill on May 8th with NCRC.

Here is mine at Daytona. I took a passenger that had a go pro helmet cam. I ended up losing my CF hood earlier in the day. This was the first session without a hood. Guess the banking and the ~160+ mph didn’t help. But they allowed me to run the remainder of the day without the hood.

Couple laps around vir. It’s pretty much a gts/st3 car. On Michelin scrubs.

For your first time, not getting lost is the hardest part, so well done! It looks like you have experience with track driving, where normally in HPDE's we teach that smooth is fast, fast is smooth. Generally, Auto-x has much harsher transitions which require faster hands. For your next one, try to be "ahead" of the cones. You are driving around the cones (apparent in the slaloms) instead of really anticipating where the car needs to be positioned.

Also, on the big turnaround, it doesn't seem like you are maximizing your available mechanical grip. You could gain a good 1/2 second or so by increasing speed (not radius) and use up the remaining grip. If you're oversteering the whole turn, it's too much, if you are setting the wheel and waiting for the turn to be over, it's not enough. Being on the threshold of loosing grip in a long radius corner like that is usually the quickest.

I used an autox event to get a feel for the car after a lot of suspension work and setup changes, they got upset at me.

Thank you for the tips. I did DNF like half the runs getting lost.

I was not anywhere near the mechanical grip limit of the car for sure. Easily 8 seconds to be gained.

Was hoping they would allow passengers to get a feel for it, but covid killed it.

Also not used to launching from a stop. Need to work on that.

Lots of work to do but fairly proud of this lap. Really need to get brake pressure switch for AIM. And slicks....

Edit: and aero for the esses. And more confidence between 2-3. And a better line through oak tree haha.

Any criticism or tips are appreciated!

Nice! I'd love to drive Daytona one day. What's your top speed?

Fresh1179 doing great, overall a solid lap! Just a couple quick opportunities:

T2 - Carry throttle as much into it as you can, until brake for T3, there's a period of coasting there.
T7 - make sure you stay right side of track before the turn in to upper esses. Keep working on carrying more throttle through them, as you get more comfortable.
T9 - at the top, back to full throttle!
Oak tree, as you said, use all the track at entry and through it, and get two wheels up on the T12 apex curbing.

One suggestion is if you can put the camera on the inside so you can see your inputs with the steering wheel.

Don't be too hasty to jump to aero and slicks, it may hamper your learning. Keep working at it, seat time > mods.
