Description:
This item is a replacement for P/N 51167896956 which appears to have limited availability, going for approximately 75 Euro on eBay. I wanted one and decided to make my own out of Alcantara instead. Because perfectionist I had it laser-cut. And because laser cutting one would be silly I am now the proud owner of more of these than I have need for. As a general rule I don't like to make any money out of my hobby, however these cost me time and actual dollars and if anyone else wants to purchase one it will help to offset my costs.
Material: Alcantara Soft (foam backed) in 9002 Anthracite
Dimensions: 126mm x 80mm with 5mm corner radius
Q: How does this differ from the genuine item?
A: The genuine item has a sort of mesh backing to the foam, this item does not. From the examples I've seen the genuine item is a slightly rougher cut with less pronounced corner radius, I made mine with a 5mm radius as it is what fits best for the edges to lay flat.
Q: Couldn't I just make my own one of these?
A: Absolutely! If you want to then go for it, the dimensions are above, I'm just making these available for those who find having one arrive in the post an easier option.
Q: Why didn't you just stump up 75 Euro for a genuine one and move on with your life?
A: I ask myself this regularly about many things. My brain likes to make things difficult for me.
