C'mon now. OP has been a member for less than 4 hours.

Never seen that before. At least let him enjoy a little glory in his purchase and welcome him to m3f.

OP - Welcome. you might have gotten a great deal, but there are a few things in your posts that just won't fly. They've already been pointed out. You might want to learn a bit more before making crazy statements in this forum. Regarding pulling the head - IF the mechanic did anything close, he may have pulled the valve cover and looked around, but I'd doubt it.

Have fun. Don't buy wheels. Save your $$$ for the inevitable repairs and maint you're gonna go through over the next 6-12 months.

          LMFAO @ this thread!

I grew up in San Francisco... in the Richmond neighborhood. I learned long ago not to buy anything from a "Russian guy".

            lol poor guy.

you guys crack me up. i have a feeling we wont be seeing much more of him. I think bimmerforums will appreciate the ebay parts more anyways.

i still cant get over how anyone can think those body gaps are acceptable. i remember my first time buying a car...

a buddy of mine learned a similar lesson buying incendiary ammunition from a russian guy missing half his fingers at a gun show...

I had seen this car sit on Craigslist for a year +. The price was extremely steep for what it is iirc. Curious what it ended up going for.. yikes.

Do you know the hours associated with that job? The scale of that job? What did he charge you? Which gasket set did he use? Was the vanos replaced?

You are 100% full of shit.

This is an e36 m3 forum. Do you think we've never seen one before?

                    My point is 100% valid.
Lets just say I did some work after I bought it, and it was close to 2k with work for mechanic.

Congrats on the car. AW on Black is (one of) the best color combo's you can have.

                      I love AW.

What I'd normally take from your answer is that this car, in addition to being a salvage title had a top end issue.

What's more likely the truth is that you have no idea what a head is, you mean that it had a leaky valve cover and you paid about $2k for neglected maintenance items on your "low mileage 9.8 out of 10" salvage title car.

Awesome how the facts keep coming.

This guy literally thinks that we have never seen the internet before.

What was Boris the blade asking for this turd?

so how recommended is pulling the "head" in a pti? Around how much should a good pre trip run you?

I don't know man. Nobody can give you any suggestions or answers on a 15+ year old car without any maintenance record. Especially, if the car comes from "Boris the Russian". I am originally from those parts of Europe and I would never buy a "rebuilt" car from anyone with a thick East European accent claiming the car is like brand new. Of course he got the car as a gift from his cousin who is a racing car mechanic and he kept it in excellent shape, but he needs to offload it because he needs to pay for his sick child's medical expenses in Russia. But I have seen people getting scammed for worse things than a salvage title E36 M3. What did you pay for it anyway? Whatever you paid, multiply by 2 or 3 and that is roughly what you will end up paying if this car came from Boris without a maintenance record. I don't even want to start a list. I have had a silver 98 M3 for 10 years now and its maintenance record is as thick as Leo Tolstoys "War and Peace". All my work though, I don't let any mechanic "take the head off" to tell me if the engine miles are original or not.
