i think it does. I think DME has a mileage counter that records the mileage when a fault is set. In a swapped car without a CAN cluster, the engine’s OE mileage in the DME keeps increasing from the speed sensor input, so the mileage isn’t pulled from the cluster when the code is set.Originally posted by MpowerE36 View PostI have never seen any trace of mileage in these dme, so I would say no.
maybe karter16 can look at the routine to see how this works.
to answer the original question. Pull the maf sensor connector and see if the mileage that sets the code matches the cluster.
this is my experience with an MSS54.

Thanks guys, i have a euro z3 m with s50 engine but the cluster was swapped to a UK spec with miles instead of km.
I tried to connect to the cluster through NCS expert and get an error. Dont know how else to connect because it does not have an OBD2 and the check engine light was an option that was not active on this car lol which is why i tried to use NCS expert to see if i can activate it through coding.
DME is not cloned, i pulled the bin and it was all original, never touched compared to other stock bins i found online.Last edited by paulpbmw; Today, 10:14 AM.
