Harness is probably the only way.

Got the front end back together after 3ish months. Hopefully this time next week the rest of the car will join it.

This is a 2006 M3 6sp that I purchased a few weeks ago for what is a pretty cheap price in today's market. Salvage title from previous rear end accident 3 years ago, and synchro's were bad in 2nd and 3rd gear. As you can see from the before pictures... someone put hideous wheels, awful CSL convertible trunk lid, and I'll fitting diffuser on it.

I sourced a good SMG transmission for $500, swapped my 6sp bell housing over and now have no transmission issues. I'm part owner of a collision repair shop, so we found a cheap convertible trunk lid and a rear bumper in better condition and fitted them properly. Repainted the existing aftermarket rear diffuser. Rebuilt the front headlights, new lenses, new fog lights. Removed the front bumper and fitted it properly. Replaced the original muffler with bent tips, with another straight factory muffler.

I'd bought the genuine ZCP Competition Package CSL wheels to put on my M3 coupe, but had to try them on here first. Glad I did.
