Don’t neglect your fuel injectors! New tune?

Since my big CSL conversion, bigger cams, and tune work my car is been a garage queen. I’ve spent a lot of time fixing old rubber under the hood specifically the vacuum system. While I had the airbox off and air rail removed, I though it was be a good time to service my fuel injectors. I had asked for this to get done while my car was with Lang, but with all the other work this request slipped through the cracks.

Found a local RC injectors service shop down the street and took them there. It was $25 per injector, which was much more reasonable than $250 each new, plus a 12 month warranty. Car never showed any signed of having fuel issues or misfires, but take a look at the pre-service flow rates below. It’s a pretty big discrepancy!

Any thoughts on if this warrants an updated tune?

I been going to RC since the mid 90s back when Russ was still around. Him and John always did good work though I have no data pertaining to the new staff there and would like to think they are still reliable. Do you notice a different in power delivery?

For the amount of work your engine has it always seemed like it was down on power, something that a couple octane points you suggested wouldn't make much of a difference in my opinion. I would reach out to Paul since he did your tune and see what he thinks as I doubt anyone here would be as knowledgable.

On another note, are you still satisfied with the paint work after having the car in your possession for awhile now?

I don't think you would need a new tune. ECU is expecting the injectors to flow likr they did from factory. Resetting adaptations might be a good idea though, as the decreased injector flow would have definitely messed with the AFRs.

I had a good experience at RC customer service wise. The injectors were service and ready for pickup within 24 hours. The car isn’t back and running yet, so verdict is still out on the pets themselves. I received a printout as shown and a baggie full of the old o-rings and filters. I’ll report back in performance once I get everything back together. In the meantime, I have reach out to Paul to ask him about needs for a retune.

I couldn’t be happier with the paint work. 2M did an amazing job.

Good call on resetting adaptations. I’ll definitely do that before taking it back out.

OE Bosch injectors are less than $50USD each. For that price, just put 6 new injectors.

Exactly what I did, rather than spending $50AUD each for cleaning & flow testing!

The $50 injectors are chinese junk, I'd rather keep my stocks too.

+1 for RC fuel Injection. I had my 3.0L Swapped injectors cleaned before I threw the motor in. @ 120K miles 5 of 6 were leaking 2 were bad. They refreshed them to new! I'm pulling my M3 injectors at the end of summer to have them done.

I think its stamped right on the box. My Bosch coils were stamped made in china and I belive the injector too. I have not seen a genuine BMW part ever marked as made in China and BMW doesnt use bosch for coils (some italien company now iIRC). I was going to do new injectors too but I'll jist get them cleaned for now.

                          throwing in my anecdotal experience

i tried an injector rebuilder that was popular on the forums a couple of years ago. he sent me rebuilt ones and i sent my oe ones back to him. when he got the cores back he claimed some of them were broken to the point of no repair so he didn't give me a full core refund. later on when i was chasing some tuning issues and exhausting all possible options, i noticed that rebuilder had disappeared off the face of the earth without a trace. not wanting to give him the benefit of the doubt, i bought new bosch injectors from FCP (they claim they're OE), swapped them out, and after a retune my car went back to running perfectly

Curious where you got them rebuilt? Same place, RC Injectors?
