I feel ya... but I drove one in 2016 for about an hour on country back roads. A friend of a friends car. No way in H.E. double hockey sticks I'd daily one. I would rather have a 2021 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF. However, if it is a weekend car and you want an affordable great looking exotic then there is only a couple of choices.

Was passenger in a 4C at a recent track day. Its basically a go kart that makes blow off noises. I would never trade an e46 m3 for one, as they are completely different beasts. I feel like the 4C is a novelty car and is unusable day to day as getting in and out is difficult (you literally sit on the ground). M3 ftw.

Given Alfa Romero's proven past willingness to simply depart the U.S, market leaving owners completely high and dry - I can't imagine why anyone would consider one.

Handling issues seemed to be solved by a proper geo setup from what I gather. It's a bit of a unicorn car and would probably turn heads the next 30 years. Different than the M3 for sure. But Lotus has just released a new car which includes a V6 manual at not a horrible price point:

I personally like the newer lines of lotus as well, but notably the Alfa Romeo weighs in at 2487lbs while both the Lotus Evora and Emira are over 3100lbs. So it could be an apples to oranges comparison

I would advise against any brand owned by Fiat.
